Bio
McKerrin is an LA based actor/director/dramaturg who has studied and honed her skills in California and New York. She is a huge fan of playwrights and loves helping to develop new works. As Creative Coordinator of the writer based Fierce Backbone Theatre, she was in charge of selecting and shepherding new works from company writers from inception to completion, as well as developing relationships and producing opportunities with other creative organizations in LA.
Recent directing work includes The Year of the Rooster, I Wanna Hold Your Hand, Theatre of NOTE (Best Production Nominee LA Stage Raw); Steppin Out, Fierce Backbone Theatre, The Arctic Circle, produced by Klepto Theatre Workshop (Best Director Award, StageScene LA); The Snow Queen, A Fractured Fairy Tale, (Best Director Award, StageScene LA) by Blame the Clown Productions; Brendan (Best Director, Best Production Award StageScene LA), Dolly West’s Kitchen, The Hostage (Backstage West Garland Nomination for Directing) and Power (part of LA Critic’s Circle Award for Best Season) at Theatre Banshee. She has also helped develop and direct several one person shows including the inaugural productions of Blank, produced by Lone Star Ensemble; and Skanky Me From Kankakee for LA Writers Center. She has nurtured numerous workshop productions for Fountain Theatre's Rapid Dev Series, The Road Theatre New Work Festival, Syzygy Theatre’s New Alignments program, The Vagrancy, LAFPI and EST.
Additionally, she is active in several programs developing young writers in local Jr. High and High Schools, and a proud alum of Directors Lab West 2011.
